#HOW TO USE SWEETFX IN BATTLEFIELD 4 MOD#

I am not really up on all this mod stuff, but seems to me that if you mod the game, and you get slapped. But ^^^ that is very likely what happened, because that's part of how anti-cheats work, how cheats work, and how ReShade works. Companies don't tend to talk about their anti-cheat measures, for obvious reasons. I'm sure someone from WG could clarify the situation more, but I can't imagine why they would. Those users just got caught in the crossfire because ReShade shares common features with more cheating skewed programs. WG updated their anti-cheat whoosiewhatsit definitions, it detected all the instances of ReShade hooking into the game, and automatically banned "appropriately". Automatic anti-cheat programs detect things like programs that hook into their respective games, because many cheats in many games use hooks to modify the game for a user advantage. ? I already posted what almost assuredly happened. Especially given their "shoot first, don't bother asking questions until the body count goes through the roof" approach (previous metaphor was inadequate). Still waiting on someone (anyone, really) to offer up some sort of "second opinion," as it were, with regards to WG's reasoning behind banning these add-ons.

Here's an example of that god awful brown filter in BF3 with the slider: Īlso, this is just another tally in the wonderful year of PR that WG is continuing. I'd suggest looking up BF3, BF4, The Division or Mad Max presets. K-Putte is one of the most widely known users who provides presets for nearly every game out there and his presets are always a great example of what can be done to improve the visual experience. I highly recommend going over to  and taking a look at various games and especially with any of the screenshots that are have the comparison slider. I think ReShade worked just fine without crashing for me for quite a while but, again, with some reinstalls over the last few months it was another thing to have to keep track of so I left it alone.īattlefield 3 was infamous for it's absolutely trash blue filter that induced cataracts to half the playerbase though I think, on some maps, the brown filter was at least as bad. I've been off and on with using SweetFX/ReShade for Warships as, initially, there was a significant memory leak associated with SFX a while back and may still exist. Some of the presets available are definitely overdone but a couple are essentially like lifting a dirty plastic coating off of the image. The Fog Remover mod is nothing like a good preset, either, as it seemed to mess with my depth perception in the game when I tried it out. It has a prevalent brown-gray filter that significantly reduces the overall quality and, the biggest problem, the clarity. So, to that point, Warships is washed out. But there is definitely a happy medium in there for literally every game. There are just as many that's-so-subtle-I-can't-tell-the-difference presets as well. Of course there are excessively sharp or excessively saturated presets available. And people need to understand that SweetFX or ReShade isn't a look or type of visual and that it's simply a text file with a number of different options and configurations. You'd still notice the difference no matter how you calibrated your monitor. No, this has nothing to do with the monitor at all because the monitor doesn't change the art direction of the game. The real question, is better left unasked. The argument that peopel need this mod simply does not hold water (bad pun.)

People have graphics cards too, that can be adjusted in pc preferences to add all these effects. What's all the fuss? Just change your pc screen settings to add saturation.

Though I've defended them in the past in the face of apparently overzealous users, this instance really got my dander up-especially considering the PR near-fiasco that happened last night.Īt this point, I'm seriously considering abandoning ship, as it were. Let's just say that, in light of how things seemed to have been conducted (i.e., in a decidedly "shoot first, ask questions later" manner), that at this point I wouldn't trust WG as far as I could throw them. The hook is.Ĭould they separate it out? I dunno, probably? Would separating it out open up an avenue for actual cheats? That I couldn't tell you. ReShade itself was never really the issue. WG presumably updated their anti-cheat program, and it detected the hook and banned accordingly, because across most games, many things that hook into the game are things that enable cheating. But it hooks into the game and changes the way things are displayed. Just to make sure what? ReShade in itself is mostly an innocuous program, doubly so in WoWs.
